Pakistan is steadily making progress in the field of IT by venturing into fresh markets. Eleven prominent IT firms participated in the Pakistan pavilion at Japan IT Week. All the companies demonstrated their skills, thereby presenting new opportunities for potential partnerships. This exhibition served as an excellent platform for Pakistan to showcase its IT capabilities and foster future collaborations.
Held from April 5th to April 7th at Tokyo Big Sight, the Pakistan Pavilion was inaugurated by Raza Bashir Tarar, MD PSEB Syed Junaid Imam, and other PSEB officials.
Pakistan Pavilion at Japan IT Week
Techdestination and Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), and Pakistan Software Houses Association for IT and IT-enabled Services (P@SHA) organized the Pakistan pavilion. 11 leading Pakistani companies participated in the pavilion to showcase their products and services as exhibitors and 2 companies as delegates to facilitate business expansion in the IT sector. The ultimate objective of the pavilion was to position Pakistan as a dynamic and competitive Techdestination, offering unparalleled opportunities for countries to outsource, invest, and grow their IT businesses.
PSEB organized meetings with representatives from both the Japanese government and private sector to discuss potential collaboration opportunities aimed at promoting the IT sector in both countries. The meetings involved officials from organizations such as Japan Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), RX JAPAN, Japan Information Technology Services Industry Association (JISA), as well as private companies including Profound Vision, Plus W, and Birdy Ventures. The trade relationship between Pakistan and Japan has witnessed substantial growth, with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) acknowledging Pakistan as the “next ICT powerhouse.”
Why Japan for IT Exports?
The event was a great achievement, as it led to Pakistani companies securing valuable business opportunities in a new market, while also strengthening trade relations between both countries. As Pakistan’s IT industry continues to thrive, events such as Japan IT Week Spring 2023 offer Pakistani companies substantial prospects to display their skills, broaden their business prospects, and contribute to promoting the brand image of Pakistan’s IT industry. Such endeavors have the potential to fuel growth in the industry and the country’s economy.
The Managing Director of Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) highlighted the significance of the IT sector in the 70-year diplomatic relationship between Japan and Pakistan. Emphasizing the need for expansion and collaboration, he stressed the importance of IT in strengthening ties between the two nations.
